Marine Kieselalgen Coscinodiscus granii: Sie leben in offenen Gewässern, wie der Nordsee. Unter dem Mikroskop sind viele einzellige Kieselalgen zu sehen, von denen einige gesund, andere hingegen von einem Eipilz infiziert sind. Die Zoosporen, die der Pilz zur Vermehrung ausbildet, sind als kleine  Punkte zu sehen.
