I am studying the nutritional symbiosis of the grain pest beetle, Dinoderus porcellus. These beetles possess two closely related endosymbionts in different organs, which seem to have complementary metabolic functions that benefit the host. The goal of my research is to comprehend the metabolic integration of these endosymbionts and their contribution to the host's physiology. Moreover, I aim to gain insights into how these endosymbionts may help the beetles to survive successfully under harsh conditions, such as those encountered in storage facilities.
