Entomology (Emeritus Group)
The Emeritus Group of Prof. Dr. David G. Heckel came into existence on 1 March 2021, and is pursing the following topics:
- Mode of action of insecticidal toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis in order to combat resistance evolution by pest insects
- Mechanisms of insect resistance to chemical insecticides, particularly the CYP337B3 gene of Helicoverpa armigera and pyrethroid resistance
- Genetic basis of the evolution of sex pheromone signalling and receiving pathways in Lepidoptera, especially in Heliothis and Ostrinia
- Genetics of host strain differentiation in the invasive fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda
