Main Focus

I am a Brazilian biologist and in my doctoral project I am studying a darkling beetle (Tenebrionidae) used in traditional medicine in South America and Asia.

I am researching the ability of this beetle to produce chemical compounds with antimicrobial activity against human pathogenic bacteria.

I joined the Insect Symbiosis Department at the Max Planck Institute to better understand the bacterial community associated with this beetle and to verify whether these bacteria could also be a source of new antimicrobial molecules.
