IMPRS Symposium highlights academic excellence and collaboration
the winners of the presentation awards at the 23nd IMPRS Symposium: Marion Lemoine, Ronja Krüsemer, Johannes Körnig and Iulia Barutia.
The IMPRS symposium held April 17-18, 2024, in Dornburg provided a great platform for the exchange of scientific ideas and collaboration among participants. Throughout the event, attendees engaged in lively discussions centered around a wide range of research topics, showcasing the depth and breadth of doctoral research endeavors.
In the evening of the last day, the symposium recognized outstanding presentations and posters with awards for excellence in communication and content. The awards for the best talks went to Marion Lemoine (“Seasonal changes in Drosophila melanogaster microbial communities and its implications on the host cold tolerance”) and Ronja Krüsemer (“Creating a genetically tractable symbiosis: experimental symbiont replacement in grain pest beetles”), both members of the Department of Insect Symbiosis. Awardees in the best poster competition are Iulia Barutia, Institute for Zoology and Evolutionary Research at Jena University and Research Group Olfactory Coding, (“Life with long appendages: Functional, kinetic and morphological adaptations in house centipedes”), and Johannes Körnig, Department of Insect Symbiosis (“Investigating the costs and benefits of a host plant-dependent chemical defense in a herbivorous insect”).
