Upcoming scientific courses

IMPRS faculty and their staff offer theoretical and practical training in chemical ecology. Mini lectures are a new format, specifically designed to transmit conceptual and historical knowledge in chemical ecology. This includes theoretical material on plant defenses, multitrophic interactions, coevolution, plant and insect biochemistry, ecological immunology, producing and processing chemical signals and also introductions of the work of influential chemical ecologists. Each series will consist of blocks of 4-6 weekly lectures. In addition to theoretical courses, training in state-of-the art methods and techniques in  neurobiology, microscopy, analytical chemistry, statistics, genetics, RNA analysis, molecular biology, and mathematical modelling will be provided. Basic courses on light and fluorescence microscopy, mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and R-based statistical analyses will be offered annually or biannually. All other courses will be held on demand. For potential course offerings, please consult our course catalogue. Each course earns a certain number of credit points.
