The scent of the oil beetle larvae
Bees carry the blister beetle larvae into their nests in sprig time. How do the larvae accomplish this?
Oil beetle larvae are highly mobile at first and climb onto flowers, where they wait for wild bees. There, they attach themselves to a bee and are carried into its nest. Inside the nest, they first feed on the bee’s egg and food provisions and continue developing there.
