Wilhelm Boland receives Leibniz-HKI's Xience Award 2026
The former Max Planck director is honored with the Leibniz-HKI's highest award for his groundbreaking scientific achievements and longstanding support of natural product research.
Wilhelm Boland, who was the long-time director and former head of the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, received the Xience Award 2026 from the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology e.V. – Hans Knöll Institute (Leibniz-HKI). The award recognizes Boland's outstanding scientific achievements and thanks him for his many years of dedicated support for research at the Leibniz-HKI.
"His interdisciplinary research philosophy—solving biological problems using chemical methods—has inspired numerous generations of researchers," Christian Hertweck, Head of the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry, is quoted as saying in the Leibniz-HKI press release.
