Dissemination Manager

Applications are invited for a Dissemination Manager for H2020 MIAMi, to be based at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, Department of Natural Product Biosynthesis.
Job Description
We are looking for a Dissemination Manager for the H2020 Consortium Grant “Refactoring Monoterpenoid Indole Alkaloid Biosynthesis in Microbial Cell Factories” (MIAMi, H2020-EU.2.1.4. - Leadership in enabling and industrial technologies – Biotechnology remit). The overall aim of MIAMi is to reconstitute or refactor complex, pharmacologically valuable plant-derived natural products in yeast.

The Dissemination Manager will be based at the Department of Natural Product Biosynthesis, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, with co-I Professor Sarah O’Connor, to enable and coordinate the dissemination of the research to various stakeholders. These activities include managing the project website, promoting the research on appropriate social media channels, news outlets and technical magazines, coordinating and organizing workshops for the project partners, and organizing engagement activities with various stakeholders and the general public. The Dissemination Manager will be responsible for summarizing all dissemination and communication activities in an annual report to record and assess the progress in the promotion of the project and its results.

Your profile:

  • Successful completion of higher education in biological or bioengineering sciences
  • Professional experience with science communication, PR and/or journalism
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Experience in the typical graphics programs such as Adobe suite and website design/updates
  • Experience with social media channels such as twitter
  • Experience in writing for a lay public
  • Organizational skills and practical experience with outreach events
  • Willingness to learn about metabolic engineering research both ongoing in the consortium and in the scientific literature
  • Good knowledge of the national and international scientific landscape
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English (at least C1 level in both languages) with strong written and oral communication skills
  • High quality standards and attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-sufficient, reliable, and friendly behaviour
  • Strong teamwork and very good communication skills
