Pub Quiz in Jena Paradies

On the occasion of the Germany-wide Max Planck Day on September 14, 2018, the three Jena Max Planck Institutes invite you to a Pub Quiz in the Paradiescafé.

On Friday, September 14, 2018, the Max Planck Society organizes a Germany-wide Max Planck Day. The motto of the event is "Forschen ist Neugier - Wonach suchst du?“ (Research is curiosity - What are you looking for?") and the intention is to convey to a broad public what research is all about: solving fundamental questions and problems, combined with the joy of gaining knowledge and the acknowledgement of scientific facts.

In Jena, the three local Max Planck Institutes for Biogeochemistry, for the Science of Human History and for Chemical Ecology invite friends of games and knowledge shows to participate in a pub quiz in the Paradiescafé (Vor dem Neutor 5).

Teams of up to five persons can join the competition to prove their knowledge about everyday issues, research  questions and curious discoveries. No special expertise is required. Everyone can join and participation is free. Of course, there will also be awards for the best teams. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.. The quiz will start at 8:00 p.m. with quizmaster René Knizia.

In order to make preparations for the evening, the organizers ask the teams to register with a team name. You may register by e-mail to  quiz@ice.mpg.de or by phone (03641 - 57 2110, - 57 6801, - 686 960).

Background:
2018 marks the 160th birthday of Max Planck. Exactly 100 years ago, the founder of quantum physics received the Nobel Prize. The Max Planck Society was founded 70 years ago. And, last but not least, 25 years ago, in 1993, the most successful German science organization adopted guidelines to establish a homogeneous German research landscape. As a result, 20 new Max Planck Institutes were founded in the new federal states, among them three Jena research institutes. Today, scientists from a wide range of disciplines in more than 80 Max Planck Institutes conduct research at the cutting edge of knowledge. There are many reasons to celebrate! We invite you to celebrate with us!
