Current Research (PhD Thesis):

RNA interference (RNAi) is getting its importance very rapidly because of its wide applications such as for analysis of gene function in genome, for the treatment of certain human diseases and in agriculture. RNAi induces with introduction of dsRNA and direct microinjection is the most commonly used procedure for delivery of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) into organisms. However, scientists in a variety of fields have been exploring more simple and convenient means of dsRNA delivery, including soaking, oral feeding and transgenic plant expression. RNAi through dsRNA ingestion provides a good method for gene function analysis in insects. Different approaches will be used, to have dsRNA and siRNA molecules in this study to un-decipher gene function and to provide specific function to particular gene(s) in lepidoptera.
