Current Research (PhD Thesis):

Spruce trees are well known for their high content of terpene resins. A key step in the biosynthesis of these compounds is the production of geranyl diphosphate (GPP), farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) and geranyl geranyl diphosphate (GGPP) carried out by isopentenyl diphosphate synthases (IDS). The aim of this project will be to study the impact of overexpression of different IDS on the terpenoid content. This can also be found in more detail on the project group's page Conifer Defense.
